Ingredients
3/4 cup dried
elderberries
3 cups filtered water
1 teaspoon dried organic cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon dried organic cloves or 4 whole cloves or 1 drop clove essential oil
1 cup Organic raw honey
Method
In my cauldron, I place the elderberries, filter water, cinnamon, cloves, and I bring these to a boil. I do oversee this process in order to
have a good handle on the boil point, obliterating the elderberry is not needed so I do just bring to boil and then take off.
Reducing the heat now I then, cover, and leave to simmer until the liquid has reduced by half. This process is roughly about 40-45
minutes.
One the above process is complete I then allow the liquid to cool. Once cooled I drain the liquid and I do this by using a cheese cloth. Squeezing all of the purple liquid out of the elderberries and into the cauldron.
I then pick up my honey, by choice I use Organic Raw, the health benefits in the honey being raw is astounding and absolutely worth it. Mixing my raw honey in well to the purple nectar this practice is now is complete and you have your very own Elderberry syrup.
Store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to two months.
