Long before modern medicine, there were plants…

The willow tree offered its sacred bark, brewed in moonlit water to ease pain and fever.
Before cough syrup, there was elderberry
These were gathered at dawn, simmered with honey and spells to soothe the chest and ward off winter spirits.
Before iron pills, there was nettle leaf
This robust leaf blessed by the morning dew, restored strength and vitality to the weary.
Before vapor rub, there was eucalyptus
These silver blushed leaves were crushed and hung above beds, their scent clearing the air and the mind.
Before sleep aids, there was lavender
This was tucked beneath pillows, its fragrance weaving dreams of peace and protection.
Before band-aids, there was plantain leaf
This leaf was pressed to wounds, drawing out poison and sealing the skin with green magic.
Before cold medicine, there was wild cherry bark
Wild cherry bark was steeped in cauldrons, its warmth chasing away chills.
Before eczema cream, there was calendula
Calendula petals, golden as the sun, were infused in oils to heal and soothe.
Before disinfectants, there was thyme
Burned and brewed, its power cleansing both space and spirit.
Before antibiotics, there was garlic
Garlic was revered as a ward against darkness, eaten raw or hung in doorways for protection.
Before pain balms, there was arnica
Arnica flowers were gathered from mountain meadows, their essence easing aches and bruises.
Before probiotics, there was sauerkraut
Bubbling in earthen jars, alive with the magic of fermentation.
Before toothache gel, there was clove
A single clove was pressed to aching gums, its numbing spell bringing relief.
Before scar creams, there was rosehip oil
Rosehips gathered and pressed, the wild fruit oil was anointed on skin to fade old wounds.
Before anxiety pills, there was chamomile
Infusions sipped by candlelight, its gentle spirit calming troubled hearts.
Before migraine tablets
There was feverfew, grown in witch’s gardens, its leaves chewed to keep headaches at bay.
Before muscle relaxants, there was valerian
Roots dug at dusk, its earthy power inviting deep rest.
Before energy drinks, there was ginseng
Ginseng was honoured as the root of vitality, carried in pouches for strength and stamina.
Before, everything came from Mother Earth’s laboratory

To practise this craft is to honour the old ways, trust the wisdom of the land, and remember that true magic is rooted in nature. I hope my love for this work comes through in every word.
🌱 Integrated Health Care
I believe in integrated health care, bringing the physical, mental, social, and spiritual together in one person‑centred approach. It blends conventional treatments with complementary therapies to support whole‑body well‑being.
This approach brings doctors, therapists, and social workers together so you only need to tell your story once, creating a truly holistic experience.
At the heart of it all is one essential question:
Why?
Why is this symptom here, and what is it trying to tell me?
With love
Trudy
